Entertainment, talent and skill competition site Make A Star continues to lead the way in online Music Video contests with the launch of the 5th 'Best Music Video' contest this year. Eight great music videos are competing over the next three weeks to win a $100 cash prize and join the list of breakthrough music videos who have already won 'Best Music Video' contests over the past few months.
The previous Make A Star Best Music Video winners are Seattle band Romance's video for their song 'Killer in the World', Chicago's Team Rockit and their video for 'Know What I Mean', Santa Barbara, California singer-songwriter and visual artist Matthew McAvene's video for 'Brighter' and last but not least, Belgian alternative rock band Lewis Cat and their 'Foolish Thoughts' music video.
The 5th Best Music Video contest is currently in four quarter-final matches. Match 1 features South African indie rock band Chasing Friday and their song "It's Not Like London's Calling You" going head-to-head against Boston, Massachusetts band The Motion Sick with their "30 Lives" video. Match 2 sees Minneapolis, Minnesota pop singer Stacy B and her video for "With You" battle New York City band STARK and their song "Oh No!". In match 3, St. Louis, Missouri band Sooner Than Later competes against Los Angeles rockers The Pink Spiders with their respective music videos "Keep on Keepin On" and "Gimme Chemicals". The Match 4 showdown features two of the more experimental entries - Italy's Ejay Ivan Lac with the song "Chemistry (featuring Mia J Park)" and Arizona artist William Hate with his song "Guitar In The Rain".
Make A Star's panel of music industry judges will cast their votes for each of these eight music videos, but the fans will also play a big role in who wins. A full 25% of the final scores are determined by fan votes, so in a tightly judged match, just a handful of fan votes can swing a match to one contestant or the other.
While MTV and VH1 move further and further away from supporting the music industry and into reality television, websites such as MakeAStar.com are emerging as the clear inheritors of the media outlet for new musicians to make their mark.
