Dany Deb & Ratchet Win January’s Favorite Songs
Northern California rock band Ratchet have shot to the top again! The title track from their debut album Breaking The Masses claimed the $100 cash prize for January's favorite Song by a Duo or Band. Meanwhile, Italian composer Dany Deb, aka Daniele Gambini, has also won $100 in the Instrumental Song contest for his classical piano piece 'Davanti Alla Luna'.
Listen to Ratchet 'Breaking The Masses'
The four piece band featuring Brian on vocals, Ty on guitar, Scottie on bass and Jonnie on drums previously won back in October for their cut "Now You Know". Meanwhile, Ty Kaufman also scored a victory in an earlier Instrumental Song contest that highlighted his excellent guitar solo skills. Ratchet is touring the west coast throughout 2010, check out the full tour dates on their myspace page.
Listen to Dany Deb 'Davanti Alla Luna'
From the town of Cornaredo in northern Italy comes Daniele Gambini, a pianist and classical composer who sites the music of Debussy, Liszt, Chopin, Schuman, Grieg, Mendelssohn as his greatest influences. He describes his winning piece 'Davanti Alla Luna' as music that "reveals the contemplative side of the moon." A romantic piano ode to the moon that even recalls Beethoven's famous 'Moonlight Sonata.'

Vernon Lee Moore is January's Music Video Champ
Country music has risen to the top of the Make A Star charts this month as Kentucky singer Vernon Lee Moore wins the latest Music Video contest for the clip of his song ‘Booneville’.
A track from Vernon Lee Moore’s debut album Southeast Kentucky Blues, ‘Booneville’ is just one of his many heartfelt songs that tell beautiful stories. Music video director Curt Edwards is a huge fan of Vernon’s music and said “it was an honor and pleasure to be able to put this video together for Vernon and his family.” Southeast Kentucky Blues is currently available on iTunes.
The song tells the story of Vernon’s mamaw in a hospital in Cincinnati on her last days wishing she was still in the natural beauty of the Kentucky mountains. The video clip was shot on location on the Moore family farm and makes great artistic use of old 8mm home movie footage back when the farm was still lived on by the family.
Curt Edwards heads MidnightStar Video Productions, a Louisville, Kentucky based video production company focusing on music with a love for Americana, Blues, Metal, Rock, Funk/R&B/Soul, and Roots music.
