US vs UK hip hop in the Music Video Final - Sapient and The Disabilists feat Foreign Beggars Advance

Sapient 'She Doesn't Love Me' Portland, Oregon.

Sapient, a rare breed of emcee, is blessed with gifts of discernment and rhythm, has been a loyal member of sandpeeps since the early developemental stages. He lives in a basement underground, where he sacrifices old records to the sample god. Formerly just a graf writer, he never could be fulfilled with only the visual arts, so with the help of a musical inclination, things fell into place. In 2000 when he first focused his writing skills to hiphop, he had no colleagues. This struggle, and uncanny stamina lead to his amazing beat-making ability, and with no one to learn from he developed a very original understanding of rhyme schemes and precision.

After releasing a multitude of self-made albums and destroying countless stages in the northwest, Sapient joined the super-crew Sandpeople. They released their debut lp (Points of View), which was followed by Sapient’s debut solo lp (Dry Puddles) and Graise Period (produced by Elliot B.). In 2005, Sandpeople released their their second lp (All in Vain). It was not long after that Sapient and Ethic formed the torrential duo named Debaser. “Crown Control”, Debaser’s debut album, was released in June 2006, which was a portfolio of Sapient and Ethic as emcees, but also of Sapient’s ability as a producer. Debaser also released an Australian exclusive 12” w/ Grayskul, and scribble jam ‘04 champ: iLLmacuLate.
In this day and age where every emcee thinks they can sing, Sapient is a true renaissance man of words and melodies, playing guitar, piano, bass, drums and whatever the fuck else he feels like. He is currently grinding on two solo projects as well as Sandpeople 3.

This is the first of three music videos coming out for the "Famine Friends" campaign. Shot all in one day, Sapient describes Mother Earth as being a masochist and enjoying the abuse we put her through. The Disablists (featuring Foreign Beggars) 'Heavy Rotation' London, United Kingdom.

Directed by Lee Hardcastle, the official music video for 'Heavy Rotation', a collaborative song between turntablist group The Disablists and grime MCs Foreign Beggars, is a manic work of stop motion animation.

Averaging well over 100 shows per year, 'Foreign Beggars' are one of the most prolific and versatile Hip Hop outfits to emerge from the UK. Consisting of MC's Metropolis and Orifice Vulgatron, Producer Dag Nabbit, Human Beat boxers Shlomo, Uk Beatbox Champion MC Zani and DJ Nonames.

With roots ranging from jazz and classical training, to years of writing recording and performing hip hop, death/power-metal and drum & bass the group's varied experiences combine to create one of the most explosive live rap showcases on the planet.

Individually, 'Foreign Beggars' have achieved a range high profile accomplishments, from appearances on Bjork's 'Medulla' album and the Gorillaz single 'Tomorrow Never Comes', to remix production for Amp Fiddler and Corinne Bailey Rae, and touring the States with James Lavelle's UNKLE outfit. Whilst also having collaborated with a slew of hip hop heavy weights including Stones Throw's OhNo, Guilty Simpson, Wildchild and Dudley Perkins, producer supreme DJ Vadim, Dabrye, Scratch Perverts, Skinnyman, Task Force and Spain's Griffi and Tote King they have worked from a host of other genres including Vex'd, Virus Syndicate, Natalie Williams, Noisia and Ram Record's Subfocus.

Shlomo has also created the worlds first Vocal Orchestra, and was made an 'Artist in Residence' at the South Bank Centre at the young age of 22, Curator of the 2007 world beatbox convention in London and judges at the UK Beatbox championships and has performed with the likes of Bjork, Dizzee Rascal, The Specials & Damon Albarn.

Championed on national radio by Zane Lowe, Pete Tong and Tim Westwood, Nonames and Orifice are now into their second year presenting a weekly hip hop and grime show on the BBC Asian Network.

The Disablists started life as a Jazz Trio, realised that they had no talent for real instruments and bought turntables. They have been UK DMC Team Champions three times (in 2004/2005/2006) and came third at the world finals in 2005 and second in 2006. The guys have been mad busy recently playing up and down the UK. They have supported massive acts in the fields of both Hip Hop and Drum and Bass including such prolific artists as Guru, GZA(wutang), Skinnyman, Killa Kela, Taskforce, Klashnekoff, Sway, AndyC, Pendulum, Friction, Mampi Swift, Simon Bassline Smith and many more.
