London, Rome and Portland Battle in Make A Star Music Video Semi Finals

MakeAStar.com's monthly $100 Favorite Music Video contest continues to be an international showcase of the best new music videos in November 2009.

Following the previous wins for South Africa rock band Chasing Friday and Swiss electro maven Stu (with a video produced by Russian design agency Toondra), the semi-finals for the November contest feature two English bands and one Italian vocalist vying for the prize against a Portland, Oregon rap act.

The first semi-final is a London derby between The Disablists and Senadee.

The Disablists (Feat. Foreign Beggars) London, United Kingdom 'Heavy Rotation"

Directed by Lee Hardcastle, the official music video for 'Heavy Rotation', a collaborative song between turntablist group The Disablists and grime MCs Foreign Beggars, is a manic work of stop motion animation.

Senadee London, United Kingdom

Senadee is the pseudonym of singer and musician Sena Verdi, who was born in Iran two years after that country's revolution. His family moved to the UK soon after, and Verdi drew inspiration from "bands with big ideas" such as The Smashing Pumpkins, Oasis, The Stone Roses, Radiohead and U2.

Senadee's song in this contest, 'My Fault' caught the attention of up and coming producer Ben Gold (Son of veteran DJ and Dance music Pioneer Graham Gold). Gold used a sample of the song to produce what was to become one of the biggest underground Dance tunes of 2008, 'Say The Words'. The track was signed to Flux Delux, a sub-label of Recoverworld Records, one of the most famous Indie dance labels in the world. The song was showcased by Armin van Buuren and received heavy rotation on Radio One by dance DJ's Judge Jules and Dave Pearce.

The music video for My Fault was Produced & Directed by the up and coming Director Shane Ward, this video was commissioned by the artist upon seeing some of Shane's previous short film work - specifically the intense, visceral "Rupture". The artist is releasing his debut solo single "My Fault" very soon and the label required him to provide a video (after the last people who were requested to make a video for this song completely screwed it up). Sadly the budget was tiny, and there was only one day to shoot it, but all the money went in front of the camera - in this case a RED one.
